The Connecting Michigan initiative will develop and release a centralized Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, Portal, and Data Hub to advance the university’s mission by strengthening connections between central units, who act as matchmakers and catalysts for community engagement, and amplify contributions to the public good.

Connecting Michigan provides a coordinated, broadly accessible, technology-enabled infrastructure for community and civic engagement at the University of Michigan. It builds upon current networks of practitioners, and coordinates existing decentralized data inventories in order to advance U-M’s mission and amplify its contributions to the public good.
Connecting Michigan advances the university’s mission by strengthening connections between central units, who act as matchmakers and catalysts for community engagement, and amplify contributions to the public good. Connecting Michigan pairs a community need to a U-M resource.
The Connecting Michigan users are Center for Educational Outreach, Detroit Center, Government Relations, Poverty Solutions, and the Ginsberg Center.

Units will be responsible for the costs outlined in the Connecting Michigan Unit Onboarding Process document.

The goal of Connecting Michigan is to pair a community-identified priority or need with a U-M resource, such as research projects, courses, and/or student organizations.

Potential new members should complete the Salesforce Faculty Staff Org – request to join form. Additional information on the onboarding process is available in the Connecting Michigan Unit Onboarding Process document.
All university department, faculty, and staff data are already included in Connecting Michigan, as well as many social sector organizations that partner with the University.
Connecting Michigan is able to perform a one time upload of historical data into the tool as part of the new unit onboarding process. If your unit would like to join Connecting Michigan and load data into the tool, please contact the Connecting Michigan team at connecting.michigan@umich.edu.
