Jessica Hobbs, M.U.R.P. ’24, Srishti Jaipuria, M.U.R.P. ’23, and Michelle Marin, M.U.R.P. ’23 have been awarded 2022 Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) Memorial Scholarships. In addition to a monetary scholarship, each has been awarded complimentary registration to the Planning Michigan conference on Mackinac Island, October 12-14, 2022.

“I believe in the planning possibilities and climate change adaptability of the midwest region, so it means a lot to be recognized by the Michigan Association of Planning. They have made the start to my grad-school experience that much more exciting,” said Hobbs.

The MAP Memorial Scholarship Program funds scholarships for graduate and undergraduate urban and regional planning students in Michigan. Larry Bauman and Mike Banas created the scholarship program in 1993 to honor Mike Manore, a long-time planning leader who had passed away.

“I am beyond grateful to have received the MAP Memorial Scholarship 2022. With the generous support from this scholarship,  I am one step closer to making cities more equitable and sustainable and the cultural centers that they should be. I am determined to work to the best of my potential in academics and research-based careers and translate this into the planning of our cities and make living easier for all individuals and communities,” said Jaipuria.

Marin added, “I feel incredibly grateful for the recognition from MAP, and I look forward to learning from the many passionate Michigan-based planners at the conference in October and in the years to come!”
